July Favorites 2015

Happy Friday Everyone!

I can’t believe August is just around the corner!!! July has definitely been a busy month for me, but I know August will be even more crazy and hectic. So many awesome things are happening this upcoming month and I am a bit scared yet looking forward to the changes! With that being said today I wanted to share some of the things I have been loving this past month.

For makeup this month I have kept things very simple and these have been the products I have been loving for a every day look.

-Maybelline Instant Age Rewind

-Tarte Blush in Thankful

-L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Powder

For skincare I have kept it super simple nothing crazy! Summer really does a number on my skin and the less I put on my face the better my oily skin does.

-First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

-CeraVe Eye Repair Cream

Last but not least are two items that I was very impressed with. I picked both of these items on sale and wasn’t expecting much from them, but surprisingly I really enjoy them.

-NYX Matte Blotting Paper

-Milani Color Statement -Gilded Rocks

Over all this month was very good to me beauty wise and I love that this upcoming month I will have multiple opportunities to get dressed up and play around with more of my makeup.

What are some of your favorite beauty products for the month of July? Any new products you would recommend?

Have a great weekend! I will see you on Monday!

Products I picked up:

– boscia Green Tea Mattifying Hydrogel Mask

– boscia Charcoal Pore-Minimizing Hydrogel Mask

– Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

– Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel

– Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil

What are your favorite must haves from Sephora?

I hope you have a great day &thanks for stopping by! I will see you on Friday.

Lush: Tea Tree Water

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today I wanted to talk about a new skincare product I picked up when I traveled to Kansa City. I was in the mood to try a few new things from Lush and I got sucked in when I started looking at the skincare items that they have. I knew I should of just walked away because I hadn’t done my research on any of the things I saw. I started talking to the employee that approached me and I ended up picking this tea tree toner water up.

I haven’t been using it long enough to tackle any of the claims it makes, which are as following:

” Keep skin clear and balanced

Oily, dull or tired skin brightens up with a routine spritz of Tea Tree Water. Cleansing tea tree, juniper berry and grapefruit waters keep skin looking fresh and and balance skin tone. Light and refreshing Tea Tree Water reduces redness and clears excess oil without drying so you can put your best face forward.”

I will say my skin has never once felt dry after applying this. I will say that this is surprisingly gentle on my skin and hasn’t irritated my eczema yet! The oiliness that is a whole another story for a later time. Summer time has not been kind to my skin!

I’ll keep you posted if this wows me or does anything for my skin, so far i’m on the fence about it !

Anyone use this toner? Any other lush recommendations you could give me?

Have a great day and I will see you on Wednesday!

Review: Hard Candy Sheer Envy Shine Free Primer

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I am bringing you a review on a new product that I picked up a few weeks ago. I had seen the empty shelf of this product back in December when I was looking at the Hard Candy display at my local Wal-Mart. Every time I stopped by and checked to see if it was in stock it sadly wasn’t. Until one day it was fully stocked and I snatched one up and gladly walked to the register to pay for it.

I feel like I have tried every primer under the sun that claims it will help with oil or that says “shine-free”. As the years went on I did my research and you can never really get rid of your oil it’s just a natural thing we oily gals have to deal with. So  refocused my search and wanted to find something that helped my foundation stay on longer and kept my oil under control for a good solid amount of time. I don’t have time to blot and powder my face every two hours so something that helped the oily-ness on my face look more natural and intentional would be good in my book.

Again this product is not a miracle worker and it won’t make your face be oily free all day long it will allows you to have a good 5-6 hours of natural dewy skin after that you will want to blot and retouch your powder. I also love that it creates a smooth canvas on your face for your foundation to be applied. I love the way my foundation goes on when I wear this primer.

Overall it hasn’t broken me out and it does a fantastic job under all of the foundations, BB cream and powder foundations I have applied over it. I also love that it’s very affordable and can be found at wal-mart.  I will definitely be repurchasing this again once I run out.

What is your favorite primer? Are you a fan of Hard Candy Cosmetics?

Have a great Day and I will see you on Friday!

REVIEW:Clinique 3-Step Skin Care for the price of one step.

As a girl with oily skin I know the struggle we oily skinned girls face every single day trying to prevent our face looking like a giant shiny disco ball. Over the years I decided that many of the products targeted towards oily skin would tend to dry me out due to the fact that some contained alcohol and other drying ingredients. This made me stop trying any kit geared towards oily skin, because 9-10 times I would still look like a shiny mess and my skin would freak out due to the ingredients.

I decided to try and really find products geared towards oily skin. Now that I am older and wiser (sike!) and hope that this go around I could actually find some decent products that don’t produce more oil on my lovely skin.

So on that note I will be reviewing/talking about my experience with the Clinique 3-Step Skin Care for the price of one step kit. This is available in the Sephora stores and online.

What is in this kit:

-Liquid facial soap oily skin formula-  1FL.OZ/30ml

-Clarifying Lotion 3-  1FL.OZ/30ml

-Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel-  4.2 FL.OZ/125ml

Step One: Cleanse with Liquid Facial Soap. Lather with warm water and massage over make-up free face. Rinse, pat dry.

What they claim it does: Cleans gently, and effectively.

I am going to be very honest I am really picky when it comes to a cleanser/face soap. I want something that is gentle enough to not irritate my eczema but strong enough to leave my face feeling clean, not dry. Normally I use the Philosophy Cream cleanser and it has been my holy grail product for 3 years now. So this particular facial soap didn’t really wow me. It did leave my skin feeling squeaky clean and refreshed. This facial soap lathers really nicely and you can tell it is meant to be used in conjunction with the other products in this kit because after a few minutes you skin is needing moisture put back into it.

IMG_0238 Step Two: Exfoliate with Clarifying Lotion 3. Using a cotton ball, sweep over face/throat twice a daily.

What they claim it does: Gentle exfoliator purifies so fresh skin surfaces. Instantly refines pores. Control the build-up of flakes and excess oil all day.

I was very unsure when I read the claims/directions for this product. I thought to myself is it a toner?! what the heck is a clarifying lotion?! Is this a new thing?! I told myself it was a toner that was “suppose to” exfoliate as well. With my bottle almost empty I can say that this product was one that I disliked. As soon as you put it on you face you can smell the alcohol and my eyes ever began to water when I applied it to my check from how strong the product is. As for how this product performed I would say that a 10 day supply isn’t enough for me to verify all of the claims they are making. My skin did feel fresh after the product dried on my skin. It did not feel like I had just exfoliated I actually still had some dry eczema patches that were already healed still on my face. Again I was hesitant to begin with on this product!

Step Three: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. Spread over face/throat where needed.

What they claim it does: Oil-free formula contains skin-strenghtening ingredients. Softens, improves

Out of all three products this is my favorite! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try this. I cannot rave enough about this product. Not only does my skin soaks this up really fast but it moisturizes my face without feeling greasy. I absolutely love the gel formula compared to a cream. My makeup has been applying 100% better because of this moisturizer and I think my skin has been producing less oil as well.

Overall I think if you are looking to try some new skincare products I would say give this a go! They also have a normal/dry kit if you aren’t an oily skin type like myself. Like with every review I do I am only stating my experience so please take this with a grain of salt and make sure you allow yourself to come to your own conclusions.

Have you tried this kit? Are you a fan of Clinique products?

See you on Friday!

Review: Clarisonic

Today I am going to share my experience on using the Clarisonic brush. I debated a really long time if I wanted to write this not because I had dislike it, but because after a year a few month of use it has become so much part of my routine I thought it would be silly to review something that EVERYONE talks about! I hope this helps anyone that may have similar skin type as my own.

First off let me tell you a bit about my skin type: I am acne prone and I have oily skin. On top of that two years ago I was diagnosed with Eczema on my face. Combine all of these three issues and you get a very sensitive, fragile skin type that reacts to any little thing that it is subjected to.

I used my Clarisonic twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. I worked my way up to twice a day. I started with once a day for about a month to ensure that my face would get use to the brush. Since I have sensitive skin I try to stick with products that won’t irritate my skin. I use the Biore cleanser and it took me a while to get use to it but now my skin loves it. I don’t have any eczema break outs or irritations from it.

At night I use something a bit less harsh. I try to avoid any product that focuses on acne because I have out that with the motion of the brush my skin can sometimes get irritated especially when I stress out. I am currently trying to use up this Up & Up Daily Scrub Brightening cleanser from target. Believe it or not this is a very soft scrub that doesn’t irritate my face.

One of my favorite things that I love about the clarisonic is that it lather up and leaves my skin super soft and clean. I love that I can actually tell the difference from when I use it and the few but unavoidable lazy days when I don’t.

Overall this is a great but expensive tool that help clean your face. It will diminish you acne quite a bit but it is not going to get rid of all of it. If you have stubborn acne like I do it will allow you to have fewer break outs. I will caution you that the first weeks your skin will be super sensitive and will not like you very much. One last thing that is very important and that was a strong factor in getting this product is that you can use any cleanser that you want on the brush head. No need to go out and buy a high-end cleanser, just use whatever works for you!

This is a pricey investment but I have found it worth it at the end of the day! I should also mention that you are told to replace you brush head every 3 months. You can buy replacement brush heads for $25. So before you actually take the plunge keep that in mind as well :).

Do you own a clarisonic? What is your experience like with it?
Anyone else suffer from eczema on their face?

Have a great weekend!

Review: Urban Decay De-Slick

When it comes to dealing with an oily skin complexion we all know that there are a million of products that claim to help or reduce your oil all together. When I was younger I feel for all of those products. Now that I have had time to research and test out products I know that there will never be a product that completely matifies your skin all day (If you have such a product PLEASE DO SHARE!!!).

Over the years I have tried a handful of products that I though would work with my skin. Here are the only two products that seem to make me feel a little bit less oily throughout the day. Urban Decay teamed up with Skindinavia to create this De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray.

A few months back I found out they also came out with this Mattifying Gel that is supposed to act just like the setting spray. Sadly I think this is being discontinued because it is no longer on the UD website.

I only use the Mattifying Gel for special occasions since I realized that it is no longer being made. This stuff is very interesting it feel like a primer but you can see the oil on your face disappear. It is like nothing I have ever tried before. I have used it under my foundation and you can use it for touch ups on top of your foundation without it looking like you have 100+ products on your face. I use about a nickel size and it does the job.

The one product I use everyday is the setting spray it has worked wonders during these hot days. At first I was using this product wrong. I only applied it once before I applied my moisturizer. This is fine but to get the most out of the product you must use it twice. Once after your toner or before moisturizer and after you have applied foundation for best results.

Overall these two products aren’t miracle workers but they will keep you from blotting as often as you were. That is all I can really ask from oil control products now a days the delusion of getting rid of my oil is gone and I try to embrace it.

Have you ever tried UD De-Slick?
Any good oil controlling products I don’t know about?
