Faking Great Nails for less than $9

img_0471

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I am sharing with you how I achieve salon worthy nails without having to step foot in a nail salon or pay the crazy amount of money for a gel manicure. It was December 30th and I was looking down at my chipped nails and thought I should have gotten my nails done, what with the new year fast approaching and all. I had the brilliant idea to try fake nails. I figured they would last for a few days and that’s all I really needed them for.

When these pictures were taken I had  had these nails on for 11 days. YES you read that right! Eleven days without having to re-glue a nail. I am absolutely amazed at how long these nails have lasted and I wanted to share them with you. These are amazing for any special event, but don’t want to spend the money at a nail salon. The one thing I did differently from the instruction on how to apply them is that I didn’t use the adhesive tabs just the glue on my natural nail.

I have ordered a couple of other style of these fake nails and hope that they work as well as these have. You can find these at pretty much any drugstore if you are interested.

Have you tried this brand of fake nails? What are your thoughts of wearing fake nails?

Have a great day!

L.A Colors: Color Last Nail Polish Review

IMG_9756

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I am reviewing the new L.A Colors Color Last Nail Polish in Keepsake. I was picking up a few things from the drugstore and I found that L.A Color had brought out a new line of nail polishes and I was curious. I limited my shopping to one particular color since I have most of the other shades in the line.

IMG_9768

The color is a beautiful brighter pastel orange and I love how it looks in the bottle.

IMG_9765

My first impression of this product is that for the $1.98 I paid for it gave me exactly that. This polish has a huge brush and it makes it really hard to stay within your nail bed. I had to clean around my nail more than with any other polish I own. The other things I hated is that when I applied the second coat the polish went on streaky and clumpy. I had to make sure the brush was loaded with polish to avoid uneven polish strokes.

I can’t attest to the 10 day wear, but I will keep you all posted if it miraculously does stay on for 10 days.

Have you tried this new polish line out? Any drugstore polish line you recommend?

I hope you have a great day!

Butter London: Royal Navy Nail Lacquer

IMG_9658

Happy Monday Everyone!

Slowly but surely Fall is finally making it’s presence all around us. Fall happens my favorite time of year and I love how the trees change around us and how the weather gets a bit crisper and you don’t feel like you are dying from the heat.

One of my favorite things about fall is changing the bright nail colors that I use into the deeper darker colors. I was recently at Marshall’s and found that they had a few Butter London nail polishes for $4.99 and if you know anything about Butter London Nail polishes they retail for three times that price unless you find a really good sale.

IMG_9661

I am proud to say this is my first Butter London Nail polish and I absolutely love the quality and the way they apply on the nails. This particular color is very dark but in the light you can see the navy color really stand out. I have a feeling this polish is going to be one I grab over and over this Fall and Winter.

Have you ever tried Butter London Nail Lacquers? What is your favorite color?

Have a great start to your week! I will see you on Friday!

Review: essence nail art express dry drops

IMG_9505

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Today I am reviewing a nail care product for those of us who are impatient for our nails to dry on their own time. It is the Essence Nail art express dry drops. So I picked mine up at Ulta for only $2.99 and yes I was very skeptical as to whether or not this product would work like it states on the back of the bottle.

IMG_9504

This is what the back of the bottle states:

*quick drying drops that dry nail polish within seconds: apply 1-2 express dry drops on to your freshly polished nails*

So I decide that I would give these drops a try and I will have to say that no these drops won’t dry your nail polish in seconds. What they will do is have your nail polish dry within a few minutes.

IMG_9506

I applied two coats of my Essie nail polish in Bahama Mama and then added two to three drops to my freshly painted nails. What I noticed is that the drops are oily and very shiny on top of the nail polish. After about 5 minute I touched my nails and determined that they were dry and added my top coat to finish my manicure.

IMG_9510

Overall the nail polish didn’t budge after my top coat was dry. I even did some dishes and cooked my lunch (I know very adventurous) and my nail polish stayed in place without any smudges! I highly recommend this product if you want to cut a few extra minutes from your at home manicure.

Have your ever tried these nail art express dry drops? Ever tried any essence products?

Have a great Thursday!

Bargain Find: Formula X Paint The Town

IMG_9122

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I am sharing with you all a bargain find that would make any nail polish junkie go crazy! I am always on the hunt for things that are on sale and if I stumble upon something that I have had my eye on that is ever sweeter.

I have been eyeing these Formula X nail polishes via the Sephora website. I could never pay full price for a set like this because a.) It’s not a necessity  b.) what if they suck c.) I have too many nail polishes to justify this. In comes TJ Maxx and their lovely clearance section.

IMG_9110

IMG_9115

This cost me a total of $15 when originally they wanted $24.99. I love that these are mini  nail polish bottles because they take less room and I get a wide range of colors for any occasion.

Lazy Spring Nails: not made by me.

IMG_0560

Happy Monday Everyone!

I have always loved a great manicure and have been a fan of any intricate design that anyone can create. As you all know I don’t have that much time on my hands and if i can  find some time to paint my nails once a week that is a victory in my eyes.

The other day I tried out the Sally Hansen Salon effects real nail polish strips. I had tried them before when they first came out and I remember enjoying them but not being the best at applying them. This go around I tried to remember what I had done wrong and tried again.

IMG_0550

IMG_0552

The pattern I choose was Spring Fever as it is Spring and I felt it would be very fitting for this week. As you will see in the next pictures the application isn’t too terrible, but it’s not as easy as painting your nails.

IMG_0568

Overall I guess if I wanted something fancier on my nails I would definitely go for these nail strips. There is no way I could recreate this on my nails. Again the application isn’t perfect, but for what I need them to do they will work just fine.

Have you ever tried any nail polish strips?  Are you a fan?

Have a great day and I will see you on Wednesday .
