My Favorite High-end Highlighters

Happy Monday Everyone!

This past weekend I went to a local beauty convention and it got me thinking about how when I started my makeup journey I didn’t know how to distinguish between what kind of product was going to work with my skin and the products that the beauty gurus were “selling me”. I am easily steered into peer pressure and ended up buying product that completely sucked. If I had to tell my younger self what products I should be investing in I would want her to know this about high-end highlighters.

Highlighting can be such a intimidating thing so start with a versatile product that will give you more bang for your buck. I do have to point out that the highlights I mention come from my collection and there are plenty of other great highlights, but these are the ones I wish I knew about sooner.

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette will provide you all you need until you are ready to move onto a more power punching highlight. This palette has three shades that can be used all over the skin. It’s soft enough to be worn every day and can be built upon each other to create a more dramatic look for school dances and parties.

The Fenty Beauty Killawatt highlight is a next level highlighter. It brings two different tones that allow you to mix and create a really show stopping look. The Mean Money highlighter can be worn every day and if you mix it with Hu$tla Baby it creates a really show stopping look.

This Dose of Colors Highlighter by the Desi X Katy is one of my absolute favorites. This highlighter look a bit dark in the pan, but when applied to my skin it’s absolutely stunning. If I build it up it definitely is a show stopper.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post style.

Let me know what other beauty product I should do next?

Have a great weekend and I will see you all on Monday!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I want to talk about my new obsession. It’s a recent love affair and honestly it has knocked me off my feet and well what can I say we were meant to be. I recently picked up the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette and boy does it not disappoint one bit.

This palette has completely stolen my heart and that’s a big task since I’m not really all that into blush. I am more of a lip kinda gal. First off can we just talk about how beautiful this blush palette is? I absolutely love looking at this palette every morning it’s like a work of art.

I love that they give you three different shades that we all could use. You have a pretty pink that most of us would use on a every day basis or at least regularly. You get a beautiful orangey shade that most of us would like to own but would not be able to justify the use of. Last you get a purple-y brown shade that looks better on the skin than on the palette (looks a bit dark and scary).

Mood Exposure (soft plum).

This has slowly become my favorite blush for the fall/winter. On the pan it looks like it would be a dark blush more suitable for contouring depending on your skin tone. Boy was I wrong this blush is a beautiful shade of goodness. I am not sure how to describe it but it’s like a nice shade of purple-y brown and it works with any look you create.

Incandescent Electra (cool peach).

This blush is beautiful orangey tone that makes your cheeks pop in a subtle way. All of these blushes have a beautiful mix of color and highlight that make you glow with just a quick swipe. When your looking for something a bit brighter, but not pink toned this is a gorgeous shade that you can wear every day.

Luminous Flush (champagne rose).

This blush is like the queen bee of pink blushes! There I said it and I am not taking it back. This blush gives you a beautiful flush that makes you look like you are glowing from within. Okay maybe that’s a bit of a stretch but it’s unlike anything that I have ever tried. I love that it’s still very wearable and perfect for days you want a natural flush of color.

Overall I feel like this palette will always be loved in my collection. Even though this does not come with a cheap price tag $58 does makes you double check your collections for potential dupes. I can honestly say that if you don’t own a variety of blushes this is a really good palette to buy. If you are a makeup collector this is something you want to snatch up before it gets sold out, trust me!

You can buy this here.

Do you own the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette?

See you on Friday!

Review: HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Palette

*Sorry for the low light pictures, but light reflects off of this like crazy!*

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do this review since this product was the talk of the town. This was another splurge I did when the Sephora VIB sale was going on, many months ago. I promise I bought some actual things I needed not just new makeup. You can find this palette at sephora This is no longer available :(.

The first thing you see is that the packaging of this palette is reflective which makes it really hard to photograph. It is a very sleek and clean design. If you hate finger prints all over your makeup you might want to turn away and leave this post NOW! This packaging holds fingerprints like it’s is job. It doesn’t bother me but hey it might to some of you.

This palette brings:
-Dim Lighting
-Incandescent Light
-Radiant Light

The two powders I gravitate to the most are Dim Light and Radiant Light. These two particular shades compliment my skin tone very well. The Incandescent Light is a bit too light/shimmery for a highlighting powder so I haven’t used that too many times.
Overall I really like that I was able to try three different Hourglass powders without breaking the bank. Was this palette necessary? NO. Absolutely not, but it will be one that I will use all year around for that natural highlight/glow.

Do you own this palette? What is your favorite highlighter/ face powder?
