Technology Problems + D.I.Y Personalized Pencil Pouch

Happy Monday Everyone!

I know it’s been a whole week since I have posted and I am so sorry for just being absent like that. I finally got my computer fixed, but I was missing iPhoto to edit my pictures and I didn’t know what to do. You can’t post a blog post without any pictures right? That’s just cruel. I’m still working on getting all of my old programs onto my new hard drive, but please bear with me.

I was itching to make a D.I.Y especially since school is just around the corner. I need to update a new pencil pouch I bought for less than three dollars and  this is what I came up with. I did take a few pictures with my phone to show you all the process. I know they are not the best quality but they get the point across. I will be posting more personalized D.I.Y’s with better pictures.

I got the inspiration for this D.I.Y from this video. They will also walk you through how to do this step by step.

Here is what you will need:

Freezer Paper

X-Acto knife

Fabric Paint

A Printed Out Design

Sponge Paint Brush

I am so excited to rep my school name on my pencil pouch this year. I have a feeling I will be receiving many compliments on this.

Do you enjoy D.I.Y’s? Do you want to see more of these? Let me know!

Have a great day!

Movie Stub Memory Box

For all of my East Coast people Happy snow day! I can’t believe we had yet another snow storm. Seriously spring why are you taking so long?! I miss you.

As most of you know I love watching movies. Ever since I can remember I treasured the opportunity of going and watching a movie at our local theater. I think it must be because my parents never felt like spending money on going to a theater was necessary. I remember the very first time my dad took me to the movies it was to see A Cinderella Story (2004). I treasured that moment so much I kept my ticket stub safe and I kept adding to that collection every time I went to the movies. Now being a “adult” I have added many more ticket stubs without thinking about it. I have held on to all of my ticket stubs since 2004 and I wanted to do something special with them.

Here is what you will need:
Movie Stubs/Concert Tickets – anything you collect
Elmer’s Glue
Memory Box -I purchased mine at Michael’s

Follow these steps to accomplish this same keepsake box. It’s perfect for decor around the house. The best thing is that it has a story to it that you can share with guest.

D.I.Y Room Decoration

I have been feeling a bit crafty lately and I wanted to show you what I made.
I wanted to make something simple but that captured the eye.

It is a super easy D.I.Y that you can customize which ever way you want it.
Do a different shape use different supplies, add other things like color.
The possibilities are endless I promise.

Here is what you will need:
Flowers/shapes of your choice (make sure they are 3 dimensional for a better effect)
A canvas (I got my in a pack of 3 for less than 5 bucks)
super glue
Ribbon (to hang it up, and show it off!)

Places your flowers/shapes in whatever shape/order you want the finished product to be in. I decided to do a heart to go with my room decoration.

Now it’s time to begin gluing your flowers/shapes to the canvas.

One thing I found out is that when you use super glue on canvas you have to let it dry a lot longer than expected. I did 4-5 flowers at a time and did something else. I came back every 3-5 min to do the another 4-5 flowers. My reasoning for this was I didn’t want to mess up. Like they say patients is a virtue.

Be careful super glue will stick to your hands (No bueno!)

The final step is to add ribbon to the back to be able to hang it up. I used two different colors a white for the back and a lime green for the front. I wanted to double the sturdiness for this project.

And you have your finished product. Enjoy!
Let me know if you try this out I would love to see your masterpiece.

Have a great weekend!
See you on Monday.
