New Chapter: Moving + Unpacking

IMG_9977

Happy Monday Everyone!

The last two months have been consumed with packing, moving, quitting my second job and finding a balance with my life. I decided to take a step away from my blog and focus on actually living my life.

IMG_9978

As always I try and document the major shifts in my life and this is one that I feel like I had to take a little bit longer to share. I finally started to put my room together and through I would share some snapshots of that process.

DIY Deadpool Themed Jean Jacket

IMG_0580

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I am sharing with you a really awesome DIY project I had been working on for the new release of Deadpool 2. I really wanted to wear something that showed my love for Deadpool, but not dress up in costume. I compromised on this jean jacket and at the end of it all I had such a great time watching Deadpool 2.

IMG_0529Step One:

Use a jacket you already have, or find one at the thrift store or at your local retail store that maybe on clearance. I wanted to add more texture to my jacket and decide to spray paint it and sponge on some white paint all over it (this step can be optional).

IMG_0530

Step two:

Buy a assortment of iron on patches and place them in the areas you feel work best with the jacket. I also purchased iron on letters and numbers to add Deadpool’s last name and the year the comic was created.

IMG_0532

Step Three:

Follow the directions on each of the patches and apply heat. You can also use fabric glue to apply the patches if you don’t own a iron.

IMG_0543

(Optional) Step Four:

My iron on letters had me peel off the plastic bit off of them to complete my look.

The finished product!

This DIY was so much fun to create and I am so excited to try to create more wearable DIY’s in the future. I hope you all enjoyed.

Are any of you Deadpool fans? How about any other superhero?

Have a great weekend!

April Beauty Favorites 2018

IMG_0256

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today I am sharing with you my April favorites. I am excited that the warm weather is one step closer here in Northern Virginia. As you can see a few of my favorite things have that warm weather in mind.

IMG_0255

This month I was on a liquid lip kick and I am so excited about the new additions I have added to my makeup collection. They are definitely going to be a staple for the Summer months.

IMG_0257

First off let me tell you about a new brush set collection that I picked up off a random app. I will be doing a full review on these + a giveaway. These brushes are too good to not gift them to one of my readers.

IMG_0259

I finally switched up my concealers to something much more friendly to my wallet. Both of these drugstore concealers are the perfect mix to give me that “I slept 9+ hours last night” look. They aren’t drying or overly hydrating where they cause creasing.

IMG_0260

I hit pan on my beloved Tarte bronzer and I needed to find a cheaper alternative. I stumbled upon this face powder from Black Radiance and it gives me that beautiful natural bronzy look without breaking the bank. The only down side is that you get so much fall out from this product.

IMG_0261

I am obsessed with liquid lipsticks! I have already reviewed the Palladio X Case Holmes collection, which you can check out here. I will be reviewing the Jordana Sweet Cream Matte collection in the next week or so, but all I can say is that it is my new current favorite.

IMG_0263

Last but not least it’s this intensive foot mask that was much needed. I don’t really have time to pamper myself, but I try and take at least 20 minutes twice a day to do something nice for myself. This month that has been a foot mask + a face mask simultaneously and a episode of my favorite TV show Cloud Nine.

What are some of your April Beauty Favorites? Anything in particular you suggest me trying out?

Have a great day and I will see you on Wednesday.

PalladioxCaseyHolmes Liquid Lipsticks

IMG_0203

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today I am reviewing a new liquid lipstick collaboration. It is the Palladio x Casey Holmes liquid lipsticks. Casey Holmes teamed up with Palladio beauty and she came out with three new liquid lipsticks. These liquid lipsticks retail for $10 each and available at Sally Beauty Supply and online here and here.

As you all know I am a huge liquid lipstick fan and when I saw the collaboration was announced I knew I had to get my hands on all three shades.

IMG_0202

The Packaging is clear plastic and it allows you to see the true color of the product. She picked three very wearable shades that work on a variety of different skin tones.

What they claim these liquid lipsticks do:

-a transfer-proof finish and unbelieveably long wear

-lightweight and rich matte colors that glide on effortlessly

IMG_0168

Georgia – peachy-nude.

IMG_0194

Ob-sessed- a rich berry.

IMG_0176

Rescue- A warm taupe.

IMG_0196

These liquid lipsticks aren’t the most long wearing I have tried. They do stay on longer than most others. If you don’t eat a salad or something messy you may get away with not having to touch up. When I’ve worn all three colors I’ve had to touch up the corners of my mouth, but nothing else.

I would recommend these if you are in the marker for new liquid lipsticks.

Have you tried these out yet? Are you a fan of Palladio Beauty?

Have a great day! See you all on Friday.

How I unwind at the end of the day

IMG_0086

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I am sharing with you all how I unwind at the end of a stressful day. I have adapted a routine that truly works at helping me lower my stress and my anxiety and I owe it to these simple steps.

One.  Diffuse Lavender about two hours prior to falling asleep.

Two. Brew a cup of my favorite tea.

Three. Apply Valor Essential oil on the bottom of my feet as I am jumping into bed.

Four. Apply Panaway essential oil to my knees and sore muscles.

IMG_0089

I have been loving adding these essential oils to my daily evening routine. Even just the simple routine of making a cup of tea has been such a relaxing experience. Even if you aren’t into essential oils taking time for you is such a important of your self-care. I am a firm believer of taking time for yourself.

What is your evening routine? How do you unwind after a stressful day?

Have a great Friday! I will see you on Monday.

17 things I learned in 2017

IMG_1524

Happy Friday Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s been two weeks since the start to 2018 and I’ve had a lot of time to think about what 2017 taught me. What lessons I learned that I want to apply to this new year. Coming into this year I am determined  to keep that growth going. I truly believe 2018 is going to be an amazing year for me and I hope for you all as well.

IMG_9048

  1. It’s okay to be scared. Life will through you curve balls and it’s okay to be afraid of what can happen. Just remember that everything happens for a reason and that one day you will look back and be thankful for how those things that you are scared of ended up shaping you.
  2. Love yourself. I spent most of my year focusing on others and putting myself on the back burner. I completely crumbled at the end of the year because I did not know how to love myself. The relationships I had built started to fall apart because something was missing, and that was knowing what I wanted and being okay with myself.
  3.  It’s okay to not be okay. The last 7 months of 2017. I was hanging on by a thread and I was faking being okay and having my sh*t in order only to fall apart behind closed door. I learned that it’s okay to not be okay and that everything will be okay if you decide to take care of yourself.
  4. Nothing is permanent. 2017 taught me that you have the power to change your situation. I also know you have to want to change your situation, but don’t let yourself thing you are stuck in a situation forever. You can control where you stand in your life.
  5. Wear Makeup if you want to. For the majority of the year I focused every morning on creating a beauty routine that would make me feel beautiful no matter what I was doing. I am so proud I took the time to do this because it has helped with my own self-esteem overall. I do have days where I don’t wear makeup, but I have realized that my morning routine is essential part of my day IMG_2287
  6. Travel more. This year I decide to travel and I cannot recommend this enough. I decide to treat myself to a big trip overseas and three smaller trips within the U.S and I am so glad I was able to do so. I learned so much and got to enjoy myself.
  7. Hustle. In 2017 I learned that when you want something you have to work really hard on achieving your dreams. So I hustle twice as hard as those around me. I currently have two jobs and I am planning on accomplishing big things this year.
  8. Spend more time with your loved ones. For the past two years I have made sure that I spend time with my parents and loved ones as often as I can. You never know when they won’t be here any more and you won’t be able to see them.
  9. Take more pictures. Capture more memories you won’t regret this.
  10. Take time to see the beauty around you. This past year I stopped to look at all the beauty that surrounded me; the sunsets, the moon, the stars, the faces of all of the people that surround me. I truly stopped and soaked it all in.IMG_0841
  11. I got creative. This past year I focused on more of my creative side. I baked, I drew, I stepped out of my comfort zone and started taking more pictures.
  12. I can do anything I set my mind to it. I was fortunate enough to be able to graduate with my MSW. This was something I did not think I was able to accomplish. It was hard and one of the most difficulty things I have ever done. At the end of it all I did it and no one can take that away from me.
  13. I learned to be okay with my sarcastic self. I realized that those who love me love that I can be sarcastic and I don’t need to hide that side of me.
  14. Do things that make you happy. Life is too short to not do what makes you happy. This past year I explored places I wanted to visit, I listened to more music, I created things I wanted to create and I listened to my heart.
  15. I let go of relationships that weren’t helping me grow. I stuck to my guns and removed those that did not add anything valuable to my life. I stopped begging for people’s time and attention. IMG_1086
  16. Red Lipstick. I started wearing more red lipstick because I can!
  17. Take a moment. Last but not least I learned to take a moment each day to reflect on just how wonderful I am. Even on the worst days I still managed to get out of bed and  that’s an accomplishment on it’s own.IMG_9291I hope that 2018 is filled with many more exciting adventures and that I continue to figure out who I am and what brings joy and happiness to my world.

What are some things you learned in 2017?

Have a great weekend! I will see you on Monday
