The Meaning Behind My Tattoo

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today I am sharing the story of how I got my first tattoo. I think I lightly touched based on it on this blog post. I wanted to take the time and explain why I decided to get my tattoo and what it means to me.

On April 7th, 2017 I went with one of my friends from grad school to get a tattoo. She was getting something on her ribs and I was getting mine on my arm. I had contemplated a tattoo since 2012 and had held of because I wasn’t sure what I would want. I had decided that it had to do something with traveling, adventure, or something all encompassing with how I am. I searched on Pinterest for travel tattoos and I found many that I liked, but not necessary in love with. I finally looked at different words that caught my attention. Explore was one that I gravitated towards immediately.

My actual experience getting my tattoo wasn’t the best. We had a tattoo artist who was relatively new to the shop and to the area. He did a great job with the tattoo, but he decided that he would hit on me while he was finishing up my tattoo which made me uncomfortable. He proceeded to ask for my number and I quickly dodged his questions by focusing on  my friend. I highly recommend you do your research on the shop and the tattoo artist. If you have time meet with the artist to make sure you are comfortable with them. I don’t regret getting my tattoo one bit. I just wish that I would have done more research on the tattoo artist.

Do any of you have any tattoos? If so what are they and do you mind sharing their meaning with me?

Have a great day and I will see you on Wednesday.
