1.21.17 – Why your voice matters

womens-march-2017

Happy Monday Everyone!

First off let me just say that this post may not for everyone. If that’s the case I will have a regular scheduled beauty post on Wednesday.

Thank you to all of the men and women who marched the streets on Saturday! Thank you for making the Women’s March such a beautiful success and for letting your voice be heard in a peaceful way. You are the reason why this country is great. You are the hope that we need during this time.

I sadly couldn’t participate in the Women’s March on Saturday, but  I am so proud to live in a time where so many people gathered around the Nation and around the world to make their voices be heard. As a social worker I am glad people are standing up to injustice and discrimination and want to create dialogue and change.

“If you look at our country’s history, change doesn’t come from presidents. Change comes from large groups of angry people. And if day one is any indication, you are part of the largest group of angry people I have every seen.” – Aziz Ansari

In case you missed SNL two nights ago I would suggest you click on this link and watch Aziz Ansari’s opening monologue. That’s where I took the quote above.

I urge each one of you to let your voices be heard on all of the topics that you are passionate about. Everyone’s voice is important and can create the change we need.

Have a great day!
