2014 is finally here and I wanted to share a few of my favorite things that happened this past year. Sadly I don’t have pictures for all of these which makes me want to take more pictures in 2014 *adds this to new years resolutions*.
#10: Overcoming my shyness.
I feel like this year was all about embracing change whether it be at work (meeting other co-workers I didn’t know existed) or expanding my interest (going to runner forums). I feel like I have over come my shyness and tend to seek being with others a lot more. For example I started going to a bigger gym! ( big step for me, don’t really like big crowds or bumping into others too much).
#9: I cut my hair many times.
Insignificant to you, but a memorable moment for me. I have learned to enjoy change. One of the things I have slowly let go of is putting too much value on my hair. I still take care of it but I am not as attached to it as I once was. Plus short hair is so much more manageable.
#8: Picking Strawberries
This one may seem really boring, but I promise you it is the THING to do come spring and early summer. I could not believe I hadn’t gone to pick strawberries yet. The experience was lovely and I got yummy strawberries at end so it’s a win-win situation. Oh yeah I had bangs for a little while 😀
#7 I learned how to bounce back.
This year has been one of the most challenging years when it comes to my physical health. Having knee injuries, dealing with my eczema and learning that I have an allergy to my own sweat/change in temperature. All of these things have tested me, but I’ve learned to bounce back and take one thing at a time. I am so glad I have found a routine to take care of myself emotionally and to take care of my physical health as well, so I can be active and happy.
#6 I baked A LOT!
Baking has always been a big passion of mine. I enjoy cooking more than the average female. I swear I get it from my mother she is always in the kitchen. This year I was able to make and try so many new recipes. I hope I continue to do this upcoming year. Check them out here, here and here
#5 Meeting New People/ Dating
Most of you read that and though what kind of people/dates are you going on? I have been fortunate to have gone on a few dates this year (different guys of course, sadly none of them worked out). Some were Amazing dates and others were complete opposite of that. Overall I learned a lot about myself and I got to explore some amazing places like the DC Zoo.
#4 Spending more time with my family
This past year I focused on spending more time with both my parents. I am so lucky to have both of them alive and I know that at some point in my life they will be gone. For now I wanted to make sure I don’t regret not spending an afternoon with them when they are not here.
#3: Getting a job promotion
As cheesy as this sounds I absolutely love being a Social Worker it is part of who I am. This year I was fortunate enough to get a promotion less than a year of working in my office. I was humbled by the idea that my supervisor though I was well qualified to move up and have a bit more responsibility. I am truly blessed by how luck I have been in my obtaining this.
#2 My Blog
I am absolutely thankful for all of you that read my simple little blog. I am so proud of this blog and all of the hard work I have dedicated to keep up with it. I am also really thankful for kind people like Sam from Samandro and Budziak from Budziak beauty they have shown me love and have left me sweet comments which make me enjoy blogging. If you haven’t already check them out they are both lovely bloggers.
#1: Skydiving for my 23rd birthday.
This is one of the few times I wish I would have taken my camera. I guess when your too excited about jumping off of a plane your forget to document things. I picked this as my number one memory because I got to do it with one of my closes friends and I couldn’t have picked a better partner in crime. I would have never thought a year ago I would have skydived for my birthday but a opportunities came up and I took my chance and I am so glad I did.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Here is to many more in 2014!
