Today I wanted to talk about Pressed/Loose Powders. I have collected a couple while I search for the “right” pressed powder for me. I am a bit ashamed of this I never realized how many I have *shakes head in shame*
I figured this was a good thing because I could review my pressed powder collection. Keep in mind most of these are drugstore products so they are easily accessible and won’t break you bank.
Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder
This pressed powder has seen better days. This is my very first pressed powder that I ever purchased since then I have gone through a few of these in multiple shades. This is my fall/winter shade incase you were curious. I like that this is very light weight and perfect for winter. I honestly won’t recommend this if you are looking for a powder that will control oil this pretty much does nothing for oil control that is why it is my fall/winter powder. Overall I feel that if you are looking for a basic pressed powder this is a good one for beginners.
Maybelline Shine Free Loose Powder
This loose free powder was the first ever loose powder I ever tried. I feel like they should come with a warning label. Saying “Caution very messy product”. With that being stated if you are careful this is a great powder. It has a very light weight feeling on the skin. I absolutely love this during the summer maybe it is because the coverage is a bit more than the Covergirl pressed powder, but it is not too heavy. The shine free claim is partially true I still get oily during the day but for a good 3-4 hrs it keeps shine away! One thing I do hate is that this is not travel friendly which annoys me. That is why some of the other pressed powders were purchased.
Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder
I feel like this is talked about by everyone and their grandmother! I have owned this powder for about 8 months. I bought it because I watch too many youtube videos that recommended it. This powder does have pretty good coverage. I use this when I am having really bad breakouts or just need to wear a bit more makeup than usual. The matte claim is partially true just like my Maybelline loose powder. This gives me 3-4 hrs of shine free forehead and chin. I love that I can travel with it but sometime the lid doesn’t secure so I tend to be more careful than say with my Covergirl Pressed powder.
Colorescience Sunforgettable Mineral Powder
This is the only high-end powder I own I received it in a birchbox. At first I was very curious how it would stack up to my Maybelline Loose powder then I realized these are two different kinds of products. This could be used as a light weight foundation. To my surprise this made my makeup look flawless and I had a full coverage face. The best part about this is that it has a SPF of 30 YAY! If you are lazy like myself the fact that this has extra sun protection is great. One thing I don’t like about it is that it has a $50+ dollar prize tag *gulp* I have used this sparingly. Overall I would say this does a good job at keeping my face shine free longer than any other product but after the 5+ hr mark I see some shine peeking through. This has a screw on lid and its very travel friendly. I will note that the full size comes in a different container that has a big brush at the end. Google it if I’ve peeked you curiosity.
Revlon Nearly Naked Powder
Last but not least is Revlon’s Nearly Naked Powder. This I feel like was the talk of the town earlier this year. I picked it up to see what all the fuzz was about. I had a hard time picking a shade because they all looked darker than their name. I picked up Light and I feel like it was more of a medium color not light at all. Overall I do like it for summer it is one of the “darker” (and I use that word loosely) powders I own. It does leave me with a natural looking face. I honestly don’t think this does anything for my oily face. I think this would another great powder for beginners a little bit of this goes a long way. My one and only issue with this is the packaging! I feel that it is huge and not very space-saving in my opinion.
That concludes my pressed/loose powder ramble! Hope you all enjoyed this.
