Tarte-to-go-kit: Prime, Shine & Define

I absolutely love that high end brands come out with sample size kits. These products are my absolute favorite things to try. I am pretty sure it has to do with the fact that I’m only spending the fraction of the amount if I were to try all of the full size product at once.

Today I am reviewing this kit that has been sadly discontinued. I couldn’t find it on the sephora or tarte website. You may ask why are you still reviewing it? Well the full size products are still available for purchase so if you are interested in testing these out this might be helpful to some of you.

First off let me start off by talking about the primer.

This primer is very silky and smooth on the skin. It has a clear formula like the Smashbox photo finish primer. It leaves your skin feeling very soft and makes for a great base for any foundation. This primer does not dry out the skin (incase you have ever had issues with this).

I feel like this isn’t an amazing primer, it’s good but not worth the price tag. You could probably get the E.L.F Mineral Primer and it would work just as well or try any other higher end/drugstore primers. If at the end of the day you don’t have any issues with your skin this might be the primer for you it’s what I call a basic primer. It does not color correct or control shine. It just primes your face for a flawless foundation application.

This BB Cream is going to be a love or hate product for many. I am not a fan of this. If you take it for what it’s worth this isn’t designed for someone with acne, scarring or redness on the face. This is a very light BB Cream (Yes I am aware that BB Creams are supposed to be lighter than foundations to allow your skin to breathe.) If you have troubled skin this is not the best route for you to go.

The good things about this is it can be used under a foundation for a illuminizing affect. It is light enough that you could do that without feeling like you have a bagillion products on your face. Overall I suggest you skip it if you have oily skin, acne, discoloration or scarring. Save your money and treat yourself with something else.

The last and final product is the mascara. I seem to have a love hate relationship with Mascara’s lately. Please take what I am about to say with a grain of salt. This mascara is great at lengthening your lashes and adds a bit of volume but not anything amazing or to actually take note of. This mascara on my lashes performed as following: Amazing curled defined lashes, then BAM! droopy defined lashes. This formula weights my lashes down, but then again very few mascara tend to not do this.

Another issue I had was that at the very end of the day I had a bit of smudging from the mascara on my lower lash line. It wasn’t anything major but just wanted to make note of it.

Hopefully you all enjoyed this review.
Have you tried any of these products out? What did you think of them?

I have a giveaway on my youtube channel if you are interested on this kit. Check out the video below!
